Profile of Brandi-Lee Rousseau

Brandi-Lee Rousseau is a competitive figure skater who calls Wawa home. She had a dream at the wee age of four to become a World / Olympic Champion. Brandi-Lee overcame numerous obstacles and realities that this would not be possible here in Wawa. She began to make the required sacrifices at the young age of six and left home for training to pursue her dream. She has turned professional and was chosen by the international Disney Ice Productions to play the lead role in Grease On Ice.

  • 1999 Canadian Nationals: Finished 8th overall
  • 1999 Northern Ontario Sectional Senior Ladies Champion (North Bay)
  • 1999 Central Sectional Senior Ladies Winner (Toronto)
  • 1998 Canadians in Hamilton – Brandi-Lee finished a disappointing 11th overall
  • World level competitor – represented Canada at Sun Life Skate International (Nov.97) (Halifax N.S.)
  • Winner of Bank Of Montreal "Merit Award" for outstanding contribution to figure skating
  • Competed for Canada at the International competition in Obersdorf, Germany finishing 8th (Aug. 97)
  • Winner of two Gold Medals in Lake Placid New York (July 97)
  • Winner of some 115 Medals for competitive efforts throughout North America
  • Winner of the "Otto Gold Medal" for performing best figures at Canadians in Moncton N.B.
  • Five time Gold Medallist for completion of all Canadian Figure Skating Association tests (highest level obtained – earning prestigious status of "Quint Gold Medallist"
  • Represented Ontario at Canada Winter Games in P.E.I. winning a Bronze Medal
  • Competed at Junior World Trials and won Silver Medal
  • 9 Time Northern Ontario Ladies Champion
  • 4 Time Central Canadian Ladies Champion and 7 time medalist
  • Certified level II with National Coachs certificate
  • Three time winner of the "Sun Life Merit" award for outstanding contribution to the sport of figure skating by C.F.S.A. Northern Section
  • Certificate of Merit award from the Government of Canada in recognition of her contribution to the community (1988)
  • Recipient of the "Paul Harris Fellow" award – highest distinction attainable through Rotary International

Brandi-Lee’s record speaks testament to her tremendous dedication, commitment, perseverance and loyalty over the sixteen years of pursuing her dream of "Reaching The Top". Brandi-Lee is a special ambassador for our entire community and credits "Wawa" through her National and International events. She also is a great role model for our youth and is proof that one can achieve dreams, and small towns are no exception.
